The Cygnus DIVE Mk2 underwater thickness gauge provides easy viewing from all angles for the diver and his camera, even in poor visibility. This wrist-mountable ultrasonic thickness gauge has been designed for the professional diver and can be worn on the forearm, providing an invaluable free hand whilst performing thickness surveys underwater.
This underwater thickness gauge is rated to a depth of 300 m, it delivers accurate meter readings, is reliable and simple to use. The Cygnus DIVE underwater thickness gauge can measure through corrosion and through coatings up to 20mm thick (when in ‘Deep-Coat’ mode) using Single Crystal probes. The introduction of Twin Crystal probes for use with the gauge in single-echo mode offers flexibility for certain specific situations where there are no protective coatings. These applications include surfaces with extreme front and back wall corrosion, and highly attenuative materials such as cast iron and anchor chain links.
As with all Cygnus products, the Cygnus DIVE Mk2 has been designed for easy operation, and with only two buttons to operate, provides quick and easy menu navigation using just one hand.
The new CygLink v4 software offers a wide range of options for recording and displaying measurements.

Benefits of Cygnus Multiple Echo
- Measures remaining metal thickness on corroded and coated structures
- All measurements are error checked using 3 return echoes to give repeatable, reliable results
- Accepted by all major classification societies
- Greatly reduces inspection time and costs
- Echo strength indicator to aid measurement.
With Multiple Echo, readings are taken by measuring the time
delay between any three consecutive backwall echos. The time of
T1 (coating thickness) is ignored. The times of T2 and T3 are
equal to the time that it takes to travel through the metal. Only by
looking at three echoes can the measurements be automatically
verified (where T2 = T3).
